Accounts Assistant – Spider is advertising on behalf of a high successful law firm based in Martlesham, Suffolk. They are now looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

As the Accounts Assistant, you will report into the Head of Finance and will be responsible for office and client accounting for the firm. This includes all cash & banking transactions and processing of receipts & payments. You will be involved in processing day to day finance transactions, from sales ledger posting of bills to supplier statement reconciliations and assisting with purchase ledger maintenance. You will also be assisting solicitors and fee-earners with financial matters connected to their roles and matters.
For this Accounts Assistant role you will need some relevant experience in carrying out financial management processes. Ideally, this will be from a similar position in a similar business, but this is not essential – it will be advantageous to possess some understanding of how a professional practice works. In any event, you will need some previous, relevant experience in, e.g. purchase ledger, sales ledger or cashiering. Additionally, you will need to be adept at using the usual range of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word & Outlook and at working with colleagues via video-conferencing platforms, such as MS Teams.
Other key skills to be a successful candidate are:
- To be well-organised, with good planning and prioritising skills, together with being able to work accurately, especially when under pressure, as the role often requires the processing of a high volume of frequently high-value transactions.
- To be able to keep calm and maintain a professional approach, especially when under pressure and to project this calmness in interactions with clients and colleagues.
- The ability to challenge and adapt existing processes, to ensure they are fit-for-purpose.
This is a full-time role, with standard hours of 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch. In return, a competitive salary is offered. Please note that due to the current COVID-19 related circumstances, this role is currently being carried out mostly remotely. However, it is planned that this role will return to the firm's office premises, just as soon as circumstances permit. Thus, you will need to be able to work effectively from home and the firm will provide any necessary equipment for you to be able to do this comfortably and productively. In the short-term, you will be required to attend the firm’s premises for induction training. The firm is being careful to take all necessary COVID 19-related health and safety measures.
