Application Engineer - Spider are advertising on behalf of a highly successful world-class manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, based at Rendlesham, Suffolk, who is seeking to recruit a dynamic Application Engineer. This is a full-time role and is intended to strengthen the Applications Engineering team and thus, contribute towards the continued growth of the business.
This Application Engineer is an office-based role and will see the successful candidate producing practical and commercially viable solutions to customer specifications. The role also requires producing and releasing accurate and relevant information for procurement in a timely manner. Customers include Shell, BP & other major end users in the Oil and Gas Industry.
The successful candidate will be expected to produce bespoke engineering solutions, using SolidWorks 3D CAD, and to communicate designs through bills of materials, together with component and customer-drawings. They will also provide guidance on material compatibility, non-destructive testing & examination, ensuring all sub-orders clearly define the company’s requirements, achieving on-time delivery and to meet the customer’s overall pump specification.
The position has both a reactive and pro-active element and candidates will be expected to fulfil their key responsibilities within the team, across four key elements:
- Understanding the customer’s requirements through review of technical specifications.
- Generating a practical, viable, cost-effective and compliant design, often to tight deadlines.
- Communicating the design process through drawings and datasheets to gain customer approval.
- Producing bills of materials and component drawings, in order to ensure efficient manufacture.
The successful candidate will ideally have some previous experience in working within an engineering department or company, although this is not essential. Of high importance will be the ability to effectively interact between the key areas of the company and influence the timely delivery of commercially viable design solutions. Other significant skills and attributes required in this role include the importance of being planned, organised and driven, as well as good communication skills.
