Buyer/ Inventory – Do you have experience of inventory control or buying ideally in electrical wholesale, plumbing, building merchants or have electrical knowledge? Are you looking for a new challenge?
If so, Spider is advertising for a Buyer/ Inventory Controller position on behalf of a national highly respected electrical wholesale company. They are currently searching for a full-time, permanent, Buyer/ Inventory Controller, to join their busy lively, fast-paced sales office in their branch in Hertford, Hertfordshire.
As the Buyer/ Inventory Controller you will report into the Branch Manager and your key responsibilities will be to ensure the warehouse stocks are maintained to an acceptable level whilst ensuring the assortment of stock matches the demand of its customers. Taking a lead role in the preparation and organisation of the annual stocktake, as well as weekly stock checks on selected lines. Meeting and building strong working relationships with external suppliers to negotiate the best prices for products, locally arranged rebates where possible and ensure up to date files of supplier information and maintaining a library of supplier literature.
The other key areas of focus for the successful Buyer/ Inventory Controller, will be:
- Raising Purchase Orders for stock, and booking in receipts of goods, resolving delivery discrepancies with suppliers.
- Checking supplier invoices against purchase orders and authorising them for payment.
- Processing credit notes for customer returns and managing products back to suppliers when necessary.
- Liaising with the internal and external sales team to ensure an accurate flow of pricing information and commercial knowledge as well as supporting tender quotations for projects.
- Covering the sales counter and/ or assisting the internal sales team by taking calls or serving on the counter when necessary, during busy periods.
The Buyer/ Inventory Controller is the face of the business with external suppliers and so must have previous experience in customer service, stock purchasing role and ideally in a wholesale environment in domestic and commercial electrical installation with knowledge of inventory costing methods. You will be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
You will be proficient in using MS Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook), with excellent time management, organisation skills and adaptable, willing to take on varying tasks as needed in the branch. Educated to a reasonable level in English and Mathematics and ideally hold an A-Level/NVQ/ degree or equivalent qualification in Business Studies/Finance.
This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary (depending on experience), paid monthly with the opportunity to earn an annual profit share bonus. You will work Monday – Friday (8 am – 5.00pm) and Saturday on a rota basis (8 am – 12 pm), with paid overtime, 1 hour for lunch, 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (increasing with length of service) and contributory pension scheme available.
