Job Description

Customs Declaration Assistant- Do you have a passion for logistics? Are you able to build constructive relationships with customers and suppliers? If so at P&O Ferrymasters, a pan-European leader in tailor-made transport, logistics and supply chain solutions, we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Customs Declaration Assistant to join us on a permanent basis, based in Ipswich, Suffolk. 

So, what’s this job all about? As Customs Declaration Assistant you will be responsible for recording and reviewing customs declaration requests with clients in a timely manner and ensuring any queries are dealt with as soon as possible. Using your administrative skills, you will be updating systems with all relevant customs declaration information in an effective and efficient way. 

Other key duties include: 

  • Recording details of duties paid by P&O Ferrymasters and ensuring recovery from clients.
  • Ensuring sufficient information is received and shared with the carriers to maintain a smooth delivery service to final destination and avoid delays.
  • Assisting the Customs Declaration Manager in achieving team objectives and delivering service excellence to our clients 

As the Customs Declaration Assistant you will need experience and an understanding of customs processes and procedures and basic knowledge of systems updating and data entry, including working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. You also have experience in a customer facing role, strong customer orientation, excellent communication and influencing skills. You have  organizational skills including the ability to priorities and manage your own workload. You can demonstrate the ability to adjust quickly with decisiveness, with the ability to deal with large amounts of information accurately. You demonstrate a strong teamwork ethic with a strong sense of responsibility and cooperation.  Having the ability to speak another European language would also be an advantage. 

This is a full-time, position working 40 hours per week (shifts covering Monday to Saturday 0600-2100 hours), in return we are offering a competitive package in line with the seniority of the position.
