IT Field EngineerJC Computer Technologies Ltd are an established, ethical IT company who provides outstanding customer support to schools, business, and home users. We are looking for a customer focused IT Field Engineer to join our growing family business, based in Wymondham, Norfolk. 

As the successful IT Field Engineer you will be providing mainly on-site technical support during term time in Suffolk and Norfolk, mainly in the education sector, but also for businesses and private homes working on and maintaining various types of hardware and small networks. Ideally living in Suffolk or South Norfolk you will have previous experience of working in a customer-facing IT role. 

You will have and maintain a current knowledge of technology developments to provide advice and make recommendations on IT development to best meet the needs and budget of the customer. Delivering a high level of customer service and identify sales opportunities. 

Your primary role will be to maintain, install and repair equipment, peripheral equipment, software (standard and bespoke) and carry out network maintenance including Server, Communications equipment, Backups, diagnostics, auditing, and reporting. Communicating daily, translating customers’ requirements into business delivery, ensuring understanding and agreement of the service provided. 

Other key duties include:

  • Audit and inventory of both hardware and software.
  • Undertake major installation works (e.g., new/upgrade server, cabling/network points, new wireless system, upgrade operating system).
  • Assess and provide a specification for the work, including estimate for man hours required; undertake work in a safe, competent, and efficient manner; supervise others assisting with the work; test and sign-off with customer. 

The ideal candidate will have experience of Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Vista, Windows 7 as well as a wide range of hardware, software, and peripherals. Knowledge of Active Directory management, hardware, software and peripheral application and configuration within an education environment and experience in Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 is desirable. 

Experience of and ability to demonstrate work in a customer focused environment, with excellent interpersonal skills.  As a representative of the company, you will be presentable and adhere to the company's dress code.  For this role it is essential you hold a full clean driving license and access to own vehicle. This post is subject to an enhanced criminal records bureau check once shortlisted. 

This is a full-time permanent role, working 37.15 hours per week (term time + 2 weeks), although the role requires flexibility (particularly on location, travel and working times within reason). In return, we are offering a competitive salary of £22,000 per annum (depending on experience), plus pension scheme and life cover. You will have a company van, uniform, laptop and mobile phone.
