Lead Technical Officer
Spider Recruitment Services are working with a leading oil heating and renewables company who are looking to add to their technical department, maintaining the provision of technical support to the liquid fuel heating industry.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of both the liquid fuel heating industry and renewable heating technologies, perhaps with some hands-on experience, and an understanding of solid fuel heating systems.
The successful candidate will co-ordinate and support a small team of technical officers and lead the day-to-day technical support they provide to the liquid fuel heating industry, homeowners and registered technicians. Additionally, as their registration schemes go from strength to strength through diversification, this person will become responsible for providing technical support and advice to renewable heating installers.
The successful candidate will be responding to enquiries from homeowners and technicians and assisting in the production of technical publications and standards, e-newsletter and magazine articles, and the delivery of consultancy services.

- Experience 'on the tools' – ideally renewable heating technologies as well as liquid fuel heating
- Knowledge of solid fuel heating systems
- Knowledge of heating system design
- Knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards and industry codes of practice
- Knowledge of Competent Person Scheme and Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) requirements
Ideally, the successful candidate will live in the Eastern region of the UK, such as Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridge, Herts, however we will be considering applications from those individuals who are based away from Ipswich and who can effectively and productively work from home. Such remote working will be strictly dependent upon the applicants experience and suitability in the role.
The role attracts a starting salary of £32k depending on relevant experience but annual pay reviews will be in place as well as plenty of opportunity to progress within the company as other roles develop.
The hours for this role are just 37.5 per week (09:00 to 17:00) Monday to Friday.
