Machinist – Spider is advertising on behalf of an independent family-owned and run fabrication company with more than 50 years of engineering experience under their belts. They're passionate about fabrication and their 28,000 sq. ft. workshop space and purpose-built offices enable us to provide ISO 9001 approved manufacturing services, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminium fabrication, with some of the largest laser cutting and folding capabilities in the East of England. Due to continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced Machinist to join their team based in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
As a Machinist, you will be capable of using a traditional Colchester Lathe and Bridgeport equivalent Milling Machine. CNC knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential. The machine shop is collocated with the fabrication team and provides machined components to the fabrication team as well as directly to customers. The position is therefore quite autonomous, often requiring one to use their initiative.
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Read drawings
- Calculate cutting speeds and feeds
- Carry out milling operations
- Carry out turning operations
- Be able to work autonomously
- Work to customer specifications
Any experience of programming CNC lathes / milling machines would be beneficial but is not a required.
This is a full-time role. In return, the hourly rate is £10 - £14 depend on experience.
