Maintenance Fitter - Spider is advertising on behalf of a waste management service based on the outskirts of Ipswich. They are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their team on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Maintenance Fitter will carry out maintenance and repair of all plant and equipment, in accordance with the risk assessments in a timely and safe manner, as well as installing heavy engineering plant using lifting equipment, in compliance with company policies.
Other duties will include:
- Using own initiative, knowledge and experience when designing, quantifying, manufacturing and installation of mechanical services engineering plant and equipment in accordance with current guidance and legislation.
- Report to the line manager any faults or maintenance required on plant and equipment.
- Liaise, work and train other trades/ disciplines, including external agencies, (Contractors) and new joiners.
- Completing job sheets and other record documents, including reporting on levels of non-stock items in sub stores to relevant Maintenance Supervisor.
As the successful Maintenance Fitter, you will have a recognised mechanical qualification, C&G ONC Mechanical Engineering qualification would be desirable. Experience of working with heavy plant and equipment, hydraulic systems and ideally recycling plant and equipment. Competent use of tools, equipment and have the ability to read mechanical and hydraulic drawings.
You will be an excellent communicator, organised with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will be able to work safely and efficiently under pressure, use own initiative with minimal supervision and hold a full UK driving licence.
This is a full-time role working 45 hours per week on a shift (Saturday morning on a rota basis). Rotating the following shifts: Week 1: 6:30am – 4pm and Week 2: 11:30am – 9pm. With opportunity for agreed overtime, as requested by the company. On offer is a salary of £30,000 per annum plus £2,000 per annum shift allowance, pension, Death in Service (4 x salary) and free annual skip hire.
