Manufacturing Engineer - PPC is the global leader in connective technology. PPC's award-winning connectors, cables and accessories are used by cable systems, satellite networks and wireless businesses around the world. We are now looking to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Framingham, Suffolk on a permanent basis.
This Manufacturing Engineer role is a newly created opportunity to support the existing operations team. This role would suit a graduate or someone with a few years’ experience in a High Technology Engineering Environment also. You will continue to drive the business towards manufacturing excellence in the production of unique Fibre Optic Cables. The role will support the production of a variety Fibre Optic Cables, including PPC patented Miniflex Fibre to the Home (FTTH) range at the factory in Suffolk.
Other key duties will include:
- Create / Maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and Routings
- Assist in the generation of key processes, process documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Drawings and Change Control Registers.
- Interface with R&D, Production Engineering, Quality to ensure the customer's technical requirements are translated into the manufacturing processes.
- Produce Engineering Drawings for tooling designs to recognized standards using Solidworks 3D CAD.
You will be an excellent team player with excellent knowledge of engineering methodologies, preferably in a highly regulated sector. You will have experience of extrusion, cable manufacture, polymer processing and/or fibre market a distinct advantage, but this is not essential. You will need experience of working with lean methodologies (5S, Six Sigma, Visual Management). You will have a good knowledge of the use of ERP systems, ideally SAP. It would be advantageous but not essential to understand BOM’s, Routings. It is essential you have experience of writing effective Standard Operating Procedures. You will have ability to use Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Visio software programs, to a level of professional proficiency to deliver the required professional reports.
This is a full-time permanent role. You will be working 37.5 hours per week, flexibly between the hours of 8.30am and 5.30pm. In return, we are offering a salary of £32,600 per annum (depending on experience). Training in bespoke processes will be provided.
