Job Description

Operations Manager – FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 17 independent organisations. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager, with a background in warehouse operations and/ or FMCG industry to join our team in Ipswich.

As the Operations Manager, you will support the Development Manager in improving efficiency, embedding industry best practise and operational standards to meet ambitious targets. Managing the operations of a 200 pallets per month through put of FMCG and a small fleet of light goods vehicles The Operations Manager will have overall responsibility to manage a small team of full-time staff supported by volunteers.   

You will demonstrate motivational leadership and engaging support with a clear focus promoting wellbeing.  Your main areas of responsibility will be: 

  • Day to day management for warehouse operations, including QSHE.
  • Line management including appraisals, mentoring, coaching and supervision of a team of well-trained staff and volunteers to
  • Ensure delivery of operational targets to meet KPI’s, Service Level Agreements and budgets
  • Liaise with central support teams including HR, Operations, Compliance, Finance and Food teams 

The successful Operations Manager will have relevant industry experience, knowledge of H&S in the workplace, worked in a regulated environment and demonstrate risk assessment capabilities. Hold QCF Level 3 award or equivalent in HACCP, Food Hygiene, Logistics/ Supply Chain Operations of H&S. Proven track record in project management and strategic planning as well as excellent people management skills. High level of communication skills and ability to engage at all levels with diverse stakeholders.  Desirable to have experience of financial management as well as working with and developing volunteers, who may feel vulnerable or need support. 

This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday) working flexibility between 7am – 7pm. Of offer is a salary of £26,000 per annum (depending on experience).
