Job Description

HR Manager– char.gy is an electric vehicle charging service. We design and manufacture the hardware and write the software that communicates with the charge points and that the customers use to charge their car. It is a very rapidly growing industry that bridges transport, green energy, and the Internet of Things. We are now looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our team on a remote basis. 

Remote working saves on commuting and gives us a calm space to work, but sometimes we like to meet face to face. You should expect to travel into the office near Aldgate East in London once a month. 

As the HR Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the company in setting up and managing all operational HR activities and procedures at char.gy to achieve our growth plans. You will collaborate with other managers, ensuring efficient, safe, and harmonious place in which to work. You will work with the Financial Controller regarding compensation, benefits, and pension schemes (including accurately overseeing holiday and other types of leave). You will also work with health & safety representatives onsite and through third parties to ensure the wellbeing of staff is monitored and maintained. 

Other key duties include: 

  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding process, including creating job descriptions, adverts, interview questions and induction documents.
  • Coach and advise line managers on employee relations issues (including absence, disciplinary, grievance, performance), to ensure they are managed effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Create the employee handbook and ensure remains up-to-date and act as the main point of contact for employees and line managers regarding HR policies and procedures as well as deliver effective and regular communication to employees across multiple channels.
  • Support line managers and employees to develop and implement training and development plans to upskill / cross skill employees to ensure the company has the right people for now and in the future and to enhance business output. Develop and maintain an effective performance appraisal system.
  • Establish, review and systemise HR processes and procedures, including to manage the selection and installation of a HR information system.
  • Provide regular HR reports to management and to ensure the company has the correct practices and documentation for legal, Health & Safety and external audit compliance. 

To be a successful HR Manager, you will have previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a start-up. You will have a chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) qualified to at least level 5. You will need experience change management processes. You will have up to date knowledge of employment law and best practice HR as well as knowledge of HR systems and packages. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a part-time role. In return, the salary on offer is £60,000-£75,000 pro rata, depending on experience.
