Job Description

Production Operative – Geosense, a leading manufacturer of Geotechnical sensors.

Due to continued growth, we now need more Production Operatives to join our team, working in our new build air-conditioned building. You will join our team based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. 

Geosense produces high quality robust sensors for civil, infrastructure, mining, and environmental sectors. These products are used on some of the world’s most prestigious construction projects. 

The Production Operative will be part of the successful production department during an exciting period of Geosense’s growth. The production process is a mixture of mechanical and electrical assembly with calibration and testing. Geosense is ISO 9001 accredited and utilises lean manufacturing, JIT and 5S processes. 

As the Production Operative you will be a capable practical individual, who is willing to learn a range of electrical and mechanical assembly tasks to support the main production team. You should have a high level of attention to detail and be methodical in their approach. If you are looking for entry level role into the manufacturing industry or you would like to further your skills – this role could be perfectly suited to you! Alternatively, applicants with Production experience are welcomed due to the areas of work required. 

Duties include: 

  • Soldering cables ready to be attached to sensors
  • Micro-tig weld sub assembly components
  • Assembly of products by following work instructions, keeping quality to a high standard.
  • Test, record and understand readings from the instruments to ensure they are working correctly
  • Assembly of mid to complex products by following work instructions, keeping quality to a high standard.
  • Pick parts, record data on the production record and update the system.
  • Test and calibrate products to defined processes
  • Test, record and understand readings from the instruments to ensure they are working correctly
  • Troubleshoot issues during the production process
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area
  • Building effective internal relationships
  • Working as a team with the other production operatives/technicians. 

The ideal Production Operative will have at least 1 year's production experience, or the willingness to learn new skills.  You will have good academic record, fantastic communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience of electrical/electronic, mechanical assembly or soldering would be highly advantageous. 

On offer is a salary starting at £10.50 - £14.50 per hour depending on experience.

Hours of work are 8.30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday although some evening and weekend work may be necessary. 5 hours optional overtime available.

Full training will be provided either on-the-job or via third parties as required.
