Self-Advocacy Co-production Project Worker – ACE Anglia is a highly influential independent advocacy organisation based in Suffolk. We are now looking for a Self -Advocacy, Co-production Project Worker to join our team based in Stowmarket, Suffolk on a full-time basis. This brilliant role involves hybrid working between home and Stowmarket. 

This Self-Advocacy Co-production Project Worker role is an exciting opportunity to work for an established, people- lead, advocacy charity that supports and promotes inclusivity for people with a learning disability. The purpose of advocacy is to support people to have a powerful and effective voice.  The aim is to ensure that people remain as involved and, as central as possible, in all decisions that affect their life. Advocacy is about helping people to take control of their lives by empowering people to express their views, wishes and choices. 

This Self-Advocacy Co-production Project Worker position involves working alongside ACE colleagues and self-advocates (people with a learning disability and/or autistic people) to support or facilitate: 

  • Self-advocacy groups online and throughout Suffolk -These groups offer individuals an opportunity to speak up in a safe and confidential environment, to gain confidence, to improve self-esteem and to learn new skills.
  • Ace Anglia events and conferences -– We host ‘Suffolk People First’ which is a county-wide, self-advocacy event. These quarterly held events bring together self-advocates, family carers, support workers and health & social care professionals from across Suffolk
  • Regional and national events and meetings online and occasional travel - We work in collaboration with LD England, Skills for Care and numerous other advocacy organisations to deliver exciting project work across a wide range of topics.
  • Meetings for the Learning Disability Partnership Board online
  • Meetings associated with the Learning disability strategy focus groups - The Suffolk Learning Disability Strategy is to make sure people with learning disabilities live good lives as part of their community with the right support, at the right time from the right people. 
  • Co-production meeting and events within Suffolk and online - This person will facilitate coproduction meetings/projects through Health and Social Care and others to make sure that people with a learning disability and/or autistic people have a voice. 

As the Self-Advocacy Co-production Project Worker we are looking for someone who wants to work with a great team, who is creative and confident as well as being a fantastic communicator and listener. You will have a passion for supporting people, enabling them to have their voices heard. You will have excellent IT and administrative skills and willing to learn new things. The ability to multi-task is essential as well as being flexible and adaptable as the work changes and evolves. Experience of developing people’s engagement and participation is preferable but not essential. 

On offer is a salary of £14.34 per hour. Hours are 37.5 per week, with 30 minutes for lunch each day. Hybrid working on offer enabling you to work between our office in Stowmarket and home.
