Support Worker– We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Support Worker to be based in Hawlinge, near Folkestone, Kent. This is a chance to make great things happen in the lives of adults with learning disabilities. This service supports 7 adults with learning disabilities, complex needs, and aging needs. Despite their aging needs they love to get involved in lots of activities such as arts and crafts and gardening. They also love a trip to the theatre and cinema! The post will require flexibility to complete varied shifts including, days, weekends, and sleep ins.

We do this in many ways, from supporting people in their own homes to working with people to access training and work opportunities. We support around 2,000 people in over 300 locations across England and Wales and employ over 3,500 staff.
What would you be doing?
You will be joining a team which supports adults with learning disabilities, complex needs, and challenging behaviours within their own home. Our aim is to give the people you will be supporting as much control over their own lives as possible.
This is a responsible role which is really varied, can be challenging, and is extremely rewarding. The job is all about giving people encouragement, guidance, and support so they can live as independently as possible and have the freedom to make their own choices.
On a day-to-day basis you will be providing support in a number of ways including:
- Cooking, cleaning, laundry and any other household jobs as needed.
- Managing finances
- Attending Dr/Hospital appointments
- Getting out and about – this could include going shopping and socialising.
- Accompanying the gentleman to go out in the car (driving licence is required)
We welcome people from all walks of life to apply for a job with us, however existing experience of working with people who have challenging behaviours would be beneficial. Knowledge or willingness to train in PBS and active support would be an advantage, along with showing competency in IT and the use of technology.
It is not essential you are a driver for this role, although it could be helpful.
This Support Worker role is a permanent, full time role. On offer is a competitive salary of £8.91 per hour.
