About the role:
They are on the lookout for an enthusiastic Trainee Customs Clearance Clerk to join their vibrant team! Don't worry if you’re new to the field; they will provide full training and mentorship to help you thrive. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in customs clearance processes for imports via sea, air, and road shipments, contributing to the smooth forwarding of goods for their valued customers. In this role you will be working Monday – Friday 9am – 5:30pm with an hour for lunch.
Key duties include:
- Assist in processing import customs clearances under supervision across all transport modes.
- Communicate proactively and clearly with customers, suppliers, and government agencies.
- Update and maintain internal systems accurately, ensuring details like ETAs and ETDs are tracked and shared with customers as needed.
- Support the team in ensuring customs compliance is upheld at all times.
- Learn to navigate Ports systems, specifically Destin8 and CNS.
- Deliver excellent customer service while keeping commercial priorities in mind.
- Assist in reviewing job costs and submitting invoices.
About you:
They seek a motivated individual ready to dive into the world of customs clearance! You should possess a strong desire to learn about customs and regulatory requirements (e.g., DEFRA, Port Health, Forestry). With excellent communication skills and a focus on customer service, you bring a positive attitude and self-motivation to handle tasks responsibly. Thriving under pressure and adapting to a dynamic work environment are key. While previous experience isn't necessary, any background in administrative or customer-facing roles would be advantageous.
